Jollys Jewellers Director and Gemologist Tom Ginever has recently been featured in October’s issue of Jewellery Focus magazine.
Tom appeared in the ‘Talking Point’ feature and was asked to give his opinion on whether jewellery sales courses should be taught in schools.
“I would be behind jewellery sales being offered as a course in UK schools”, said Tom.
“Knowledge is what defines a good salesperson, and there is a vast amount to learn in order sell jewellery successfully. Speaking as a jewellery retailer, I would welcome recruits with an existing knowledge of the industry, as this would help greatly reduce training costs for people new to the company.”
“I am all for vocational courses in general, if somebody is keen to learn a trade I think they should have the option.”
